Weirder and weirder!
I hope that WordPress craziness yesterday hasn’t messed up too much. Thanks goes to Brian Emling (once again!) for getting everything back in order!
Lesson learned: NEVER UPDATE ANYTHING.
The penny never quite drops for Mittens, does it?
Okay, it gets pretty intense for a bit here.
And of course, I hope you’ll check out my Patreon page!
If you’re a new reader, welcome! I hope it’s not a hard comic to jump onto. Evil android wanting to take over the galaxy an’ all that. The backstory is a funny read! Or just delight in the funny pictures.
And I hope you’ll lend your support to my Patreon campaign. Every pledge hits me like a ray of sunshine! Wouldn’t you like to hit me with sunshine?
It’s like, if you’re doomed to be destroyed, you can totally do without the taunting and sarcasm.
I want to do CK four times a month. I want to SO MUCH.
Welcome back to Commander Kitty! We are updating twice a month on Sundays, starting NOW! Spread the word! Really… I need to make this work out, heh heh… Twitter, Facebook, comic forums, anywhere! Let the galaxy echo with news of CK’s return! HLBRUHBLRURBHLULB!
Commander Kitty is funded by Patreon. I hope you’ll lend your support!
No more commercials after this one! I wouldn’t make such a fuss about this Patreon deal if I honestly didn’t need the help! And even the lowest donation helps a bunch. The response so far has been really encouraging! Thanks to Patreon, CK will update twice a month. Next week brings a new episode of CK, continuing right where we left off! Please consider sponsoring Commander Kitty!
Scotty out!
Hi, diehard Spacers! I finally had some time to myself where I didn’t feel guilty drawing CK and crew again!
The past year has been absolute nanners. I’ve been working as a storyboard artist / animator* for the new show ASTROBLAST. (check your local listings)
In contrast to my previous job, where there were lulls and rushes, this is constant non-stop 110 percent ten speed working biz. So a bit of a culture shock maybe (and dare I say an energy drain sometimes?) but it’s super fun doing this stuff all the time. I haven’t had anything comic worthy to post here, but I do post scribbles from time to time on the CK Facebook page.
But health wise, things are back on the up and up. I had some bad depression to go through over the winter which didn’t help things. (does it ever?) But being able to talk about it was part of getting over it for me. If depression hits you, hit back with talking. And patience.
But I don’t wanna bore you!
The big question… will CK continue? I want it to, but you fans don’t deserve this stop and go stuff. To reiterate a Facebook post, I would prefer to finish it behind the scenes and just present it to you all in a collection. A book if you will. And then move onto something else. Another CK story is possible. ANYTHING’s possible! I do like to mix things up.
Enjoy some CK artwork, and keep looking at the stars! I lost my skyfly keys, and they might drift by.
*They call it a storyboarding, but really there’s a lot of animating to do, but it’s in a rough stage. It’s what you might call an animatic. Well, it’s more final than an animatic, but less final than the final piece. Is that a actual position? Animaticker? Cartoons are weird, man!
That project that kept me so busy over the winter? You can check it out here! The good folks there made the right call in wanting a cartoon to show off their product, and it was wicked fun to work with them in creating it. And I want to shout out to my friend Dave Kuhn for recommending me for the job, his team, Katrina Carras and Anthony Gutierrez for their excellent storyboard and Sean Bishop for his amazing voice-over talents.
This is also a good time to let y’all know that I am freelancing full time at the moment. This means even though I have the time to do a new episode every week, Commander Kitty is a bit lower on the priority scale now. At this point, I don’t know what I can do to turn CK into a serious money maker. Maybe draw with my foot and write strips about video games, or punching dolphins like the really successful webcomics out there.
So I’ve updated the demo reel here to show some of my more recent work, and if anyone reading needs a fantastic Flash animator, just gimme a ringy dingy!
