Just a reminder – the Commander Kitty Facebook page has pencilled versions of every comic, and more cool stuff! Give CK a Like and tell your friends! (even if you didn’t get the joke this week!)
Also, an important history lesson for you youngins out there.
Well I’m taking solace in the fact that the group’s reactions in the last panel have probably never so accurately matched those of my audience this time ’round.
Once they get it, I mean.
Aw man, I’m kinda disappointed in myself for not getting the joke. And I should have. It’s the genre of music I grew up listening to, and I’ve heard the song enough to sing along with parts of it. Oh well, I’ve always been more of a Queen fan anyway.
I’m old enough to get it right off, but am somewhat surprised (or maybe disappointed) that the reference has so slipped out of the current popular mind. I thought the last panel reaction was due to everyone getting, but not nessisarily appreciating, the joke.
The Beatles’ music survived this far into the future? That’s comforting actually. I can only hope Miley Cyrus and other pop stars were became obsolete. You may say I’m dreamer, but…
The computer room actually reminds me a bit of the computers in Neon Genesis Evangelion, as well as scenes from Portal 2 (though those were testing chambers, not computers).
Alright, got it now, thanks Wikipedia. So here’s the relevant passage for those who still wonder:
The Beatles song “A Day in the Life”.
“An article in the Daily Mail about a plan to fill potholes in the town caught John Lennon’s eye as he was writing the song, giving birth to the lyric:
I read the news today, oh boy /
4,000 holes in Blackburn, Lancashire /
And though the holes were rather small /
They had to count them all /
Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall.”
I thought it was a reference to the floating blue things that are the representation of the soul in Japanese culture, and that was why she was laughing.
I believe we just learned a bit about Nin Wah’s sense of humor.
…..I don’t get it….
Nin Wah’s reaction is hysterical. XD But … I don’t really get it either …
>83
I feel like the joke has something to do with shoes. 😐 XD
I guess it’s some kind of word-joke that only works in English. Too bad I’m german.
Guys, my fan base is evidently MUCH younger than I had imagined. Help me out here, you old geezers out there!!

Also, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention http://badlydrawnkitties.com/new/20100125.html
Oh, that is good!
Oh that is rich! Bravo, sir!
I hope someone will get it and explain the joke, hence the moveton.
The only thing I can think of is that it’s a Beatles reference.
There was supposed to be some sort of joke there?
Just… A Day in the Life …of a cartoonist who’s too clever for his own good.

Oh, next Sunday can’t come fast enough…

Pfft. Yeah. moving on……..
Sad, I used to watch the Beatles cartoon while growing up, but then again, this song wasn’t exactly comic material… =^^;
Ah well, pobody’s nerfect! =^^=

Ah, I didn’t get it either, but I did get the second link BDKMAT posted.
I know the lyrics, I know the song, still don’t get the joke. At all. Even after all explanations =/ Russian mindset =/
thanks Molo now i got it lol
Well it’s better than a Justin Beiber lyric, I guess!
Now that song is gonna be in my head all day; but, you know its gonna be- all right…
Nin Wah reminds me of a Blue Meany in that last frame!
Ha!
I thought it was a reference to the floating blue things that are the representation of the soul in Japanese culture, and that was why she was laughing.
