Like the Greek Coffee Shop/New York City cup!

I still liked it better when Mittens was standing up and making his own decisions. Poor guy has become the brunt of everyone’s backlash again. He needs to commandeer a triple-I fighter and dump these blowhards.

Ohhh, now everything makes sense. 🙂

Reading this comic is still lots of fun. Keep it up!

Why can they just yank out a couple of hard drives from the lab though?

    I meant can’t

Gotta love Mr. Sock’s “Don’t you understand anything Mittens?” face. I swear, it’s like he grew up in outer space! 🙂

@Joey: Well, he almost did just then

@Brother: HDD’s (that is, hard drives that are actual disks) are already being replaced by flash memory. I think it’s pretty safe to assume that by the time a species is able to build moon-sized space-ships they’re using something that can’t just be yanked out and carried away.

@Frank: That seems rather backwards, really… In Star Trek, for instance, there were always removable data storage devices of some sort (most recognizably in later series, isolinear chips). Not everything ‘computer’ is going to ‘evolve’ into ‘Unfixable, Unhackable, Untenable’ Mac Book Airs/Pro Retinas. Modular will always be preferable for those who fiddle and tinker, like I assume of Fortiscue. There may be even easier interfacing tech as time goes, as well, so the modular nature is easier to attain.

Take your own example of magnetic platters (traditional HDD technology) supplanted by flash memory. Most magnetic storage devices need a separate data connection and a power connection, while most forms of flash memory can easily make use of much more flexible technologies like USB. The two use each interchangeably, though. I think the more important thing to take away from it is that connectors have evolved. IDE, SCSI, SATA, USB, Firewire, Thunderbolt… Who’s to say we won’t have an even more modular and flexible connector for our storage devices by the time we have interstellar travel and moon-sized space stations/ships.

@apstorm I think that’s the longest comment we’ve ever gotten here. Heck, that’s more reading than the comic!
